When we’re moving through life in constant motion, it’s tough to notice what’s happening around us.
It’s like driving down the highway, trying to see individual trees and leaves.
Everything blurs into one as we stay in motion.
But when we slow down, we create opportunities to notice, to appreciate, and to see the beauty around us.
Slowing down allows us to notice the individual leaves on the tree and appreciate the depth of what’s happening in that moment.
… The sunlight that’s traveled 94 million lightyears, offering energy to the tree.
… The water that’s been recycled throughout the earth for 4.5 billion years, sustaining the tree’s life.
… The carbon dioxide the tree is filtering, giving us the oxygen we need to breathe.
In that act of slowing down to notice and appreciate, we can find a depth of gratitude and joy that’s impossible to experience when we’re moving fast.
Those moments are available to us all the time.
The question is – can we slow down and notice the moment, or do we let it pass us by?
